Chain Products

The largest manufacturer of welded and weldless chain in the United States, Campbell® offers an array of chains and assemblies, including slings for overhead lifting, and binder chains. Bishop Lifting Products®, Inc. is one of the leading distributers of Campbell®’s chains and accessories. Users of Campbell® chain can select from a wide range of working load capacities including proof coil, high test, transport and alloy; finishes including self-colored, Blu-Krome®, galvanized and bright color polycoated; links that are short, long, twisted, locked, looped, even stamped from flat stock. Several chain types are even available in solid brass and bronze.

Bishop Lifting Products®, Inc. carries two grades of Campbell® chains, Grade 80 (System 8) and Grade 100 (System 10) alloy chains. The higher the grade of an alloy chain, the higher its strength level. Increased strength enables the user to employ a lighter, smaller chain on many jobs. Although the Grade 80 chain is the most common alloy used in the manufacture of chain slings, Campbell® recently developed a new, maximum-strength Grade 100 alloy. Constructed from a lifting grade alloy that is extra heat treated, Grade 100 alloy is designed for the most demanding field applications and is the strongest chain in the industry. Grade 100 alloy chains have 25 percent higher work load limits than Grade 80 so they can perform the same lifts with a lighter weight chain, yet are comparable in price.

Slings

Campbell Sling The Campbell® Quik-Alloy® system provides proof tested and certified components for easy and quick assembling of all the popular types of chain slings plus many special slings. Hooks and coupling links have rotating load pins that resist bending and offer shear values equivalent to the chain. The open design of the hooks allows for easy inspection. All Quik-Alloy® components are sized and identified according to the chain with which they are to be used. Click here to see our selection of slings by Campbell®.

Proof Testing

All Campbell Grade 80 and Grade 100 alloy chains are proof tested prior to use. Proof testing allows users to determine the limitations of the chain under specific conditions. Although chain will show little or no stretch at rated capacity, it does have the ability to elongate up to 20 percent prior to failure, which serves as a visual warning sign prompting users to remove the chain from service before injury or damage is sustained from a broken chain. Both Grade 80 and Grade 100 alloy chains diminish in performance under high temperatures and proof testing determines the rate at which the chain loses strength at different temperatures. Heated alloy chains do not return to their original strength even after they have cooled down, so proof testing also deciphers the capacity of the chain each time they have been heated up and cooled down. Easily repaired, alloy chains are proof tested and recertified after refurbishment, which makes for an economical alternative to outright replacement.
