Product Spotlight: Crosby Tubing Grab

Crosby Group

Bishop Lifting Products is excited to announce the latest innovation in well servicing from The Crosby Group.

How it works:

The tool clamps onto the well tubing just behind the upset and is used to move the tubing to and from the rig floor. Keeping the tube horizontal, the grab allows handlers to move the tubing to the rig floor so the elevators can be attached and stand the tubing upright. The Tube Grab can also be used in the reverse. It is not designed to move the tubing to the vertical.

To install on tubing, pull the trigger fully, and press the jaws over the tubing. Release the trigger and verify the trigger is fully in the locked or forward position prior to applying a load. The operator’s hands must be free of the grab prior to applying the load. The grab must be installed adjacent to the flared end of the tubing or the coupler.  Do not attempt to attach the grab directly to the larger diameter flared end or the coupler.

Features:

  • Devices to lift 2-3/8" and 2-7/8" tubing.
  • Engages with upset end of tubing.
  • WLL: 500 lbs.
  • Fitted with Crosby Shackle for attachment to air tugger line.
  • For the oilfield well servicing market.

Important Safety Information:

  1. Tubing grabs are designed to work with a specific tubing diameter. Do not attempt to lift any other type of object, or tubing of a different diameter.
  2. The weight of the load shall be known, calculated, estimated, or measured prior to lifting.
  3. Shock loading should be avoided.
  4. See ASME B30.20, “Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices”, ASME BTH-1, “Design of Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices”, NEN-EN 13155: “Cranes-Safety-Non-Fixed Load Lifting Attachments” for additional information.
