What is the Difference between Gator-Max Slings, Gator-Laid Slings and Gator-Flex Grommets?

Gator-Max® Wire Rope Slings
Slingmax® manufactured a line of wire rope slings, known as the Gator-Rex® slings, for many years. These slings are now begin phased out and are being replaced by the strong, versatile Gator-Max® line. Former users of the Gator-Rex® wire rope slings will be impressed with the improved functionality of this new line.

When you need the strongest multipart sling, but you are also looking for flexibility, choose the Gator-Max® sling. It develops full strength using small pins that have a D:d ratio of 1:1; where D is the pin and d is the wire rope sling body. The Gator-Max™ is the most efficient wire rope sling available, featuring parallel wire ropes that do not cross over when they are wrapped with heavy duty material. Your company can be confident that the design of the Gator-Max® will meet your application’s needs; in fact, it was initially developed to meet the US Navy and Wire Rope Technical Board Sling Manual.

Gator-Laid® Wire Rope Slings
The Gator-Laid® sling is virtually identical to the Gator-Max® sling, with one exception. Although it has parallel eyes and twelve parts of wire rope—similar to the Gator-Max®, the Gator-Laid® has metal sleeves for the splice connection. Choose a Gator-Laid® sling when a big lift, but a short sling, is necessary. This sling was developed in tandem with the off-shore oil industry to provide the absolute best in heavy lift slings. D:d ratio is the same as Gator-Max®.

Gator-Flex® Wire Rope Grommets
For ultra flexibility in short heavy lifts, our customers choose the Gator-Flex® grommets. The Gator-Flex® grommets can be manufacture shorter than standard multipart slings; yet they maintain all of the strength and versatility advantages of the Gator-Max® and Gator-Laid® slings. 5:1 D:d ratio, where D is the pin and d is the sling body diameter.
