Crane & Rigging Expertise

BLP provides the complete line of crane & rigging inspection and testing services, products from leading manufacturers worldwide and custom lifting solutions demanded by our customers’ rental, manufacturing, servicing, energy exploration, marine and other related crane applications. Our products are tested to industry and governmental standards, and then tagged to assure periodic inspections and improve safety. BLP installs stainless steel heavy gauge tags on steel slings and clear covered vinyl tags on synthetic slings, using high quality Crosby® sling fittings and terminations. Plus we provide online access to testing certifications to streamline your compliance efforts.

Material Handling System Services

Since 1998, our BLP Services division has provided offshore and land-based inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, modernization, on-site staffing, and lift specialist consulting. We service wire rope, slings, loose lifting gear, cranes, hoists and oilfield equipment. BLP Services adheres to current industry standards, manufacturer recommendations and customer requirements. Our employees maintain a strict regimen of training on all types of lifting equipment, offering detailed inspection reports on paper and online.

Slings & Rigging Products

BLP fabricates wire rope, synthetic, alloy chain, metal mesh, and high performance slings including SlingMax® Gator-Flex® 9-part Grommets, Twin-Path® Extra CoverMax®, and Gator-Laid® 9-part slings. We’re a Campbell welded alloy chain sling repair station, a Cambridge metal mesh sling repair center/authorized fabricator and premiere distributor of Crosby shackles, blocks, sheaves, and hooks. BLP is North America’s largest stocking distributor of Teufelberger high performance crane ropes, with a large inventory of wire rope sizes and constructions. In all, BLP is a top distributor worldwide for SlingMax® Rigging Solutions, The Crosby® Group, Campbell® chain, J.C. Renfroe & Sons lifting clamps, Teufelberger®  and Wire Rope Industries® wire ropes.

Solutions

Our BLP Solutions division features an experienced in-house engineering, design and fabrication team that utilizes CAD, 3D modeling, and FEA programs. We fabricate custom lifting devices as well as our BLP Ultra™ line of spreader bars, lifting beams, material baskets, padeyes, lifting lugs, bottle/drum lifters, forklift/crane adapters, tongs, hooks and other specialized rigging appliances including personnel lifters and personnel baskets.

Personnel Lifting

In 1998, our BLP Solution division responded to the industry’s need for improved personnel lifting on drilling rigs with the electric powered BLP MaxiRider™. Today, it"s joined by the air powered BLP UltraRider™ for offshore personnel lifting. Their numerous safety features, ease of operation improvements and and total wireless rider control makes these and our other personnel baskets the most demanded and trusted personnel lifting systems in the oilfield.

Each of these plays an important role in the decision making processes of BLP and incorporates employee participation at all levels. In 1999 we achieved our ISO 9002:1994 Quality certification from Det Norske Veritas (DNV), which was upgraded to the ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2003. Today, we are developing an ISO 14000 compatible Environmental system and an OHSAS 18000 Health and Safety system.

Locations

BLP Group is divided into 3 divisions: Bishop Lifting Products, Inc., BLP Services, and BLP Solutions. Bishop Lifting Products has branches in Houston, Texas and in New Iberia, Louisiana. BLP Services has branches located in Houston, Beaumont, TX, and New Iberia. BLP Solutions is located in Houston. BLP employs over 100 people, and in April 2006 relocated onto a new 12 acre property more than doubling our warehouse square footage.
