Maintenance & Repairs
BLP Services offers preventative maintenance and repairs on all types of lifting equipment. We specialize in hoists, offering Budget hoist, Coffing hoist, Yale hoist and other major brand hoist repairs and supplies. We also specialize in overhead cranes, winches, slings, rigging gear, lifting devices, and oilfield equipment. We use the criteria defined in ASME B30, API RP2D, OSHA 1910, OSHA 1926, CMAA 70/74 and SNT-TC current industry standards and manufacturer recommendations for inspection and removal from service prior to repair. Every item we service in-house is tagged, tested, and painted when required. Our quality processes verify compliance at final inspection before the equipment is returned to the customer.
Coffing Hoist & Other Hoist Repairs
Preventative maintenance is one step beyond general upkeep. General upkeep can be performed by a designated person, but preventative maintenance should be done by a qualified crane technician or inspector. Performing visual inspections and minor maintenance including lubrication, latch replacement, and tag replacement is done on all types of lifting equipment. We also maintain the electrical panels by tightening lugs, checking connections, and inspecting for corrosion. On bridge cranes we maintain gear boxes, pinion gears, grease all fittings, verifiy and refill of all fluid levels. Greasing the crane block load pin, tightening body bolts, and checking for hook housing bearing wear are standard practices on any preventative maintenance job. A written report with suggestions for any repair or precautions is always provided following maintenance jobs.
Repairs
BLP Service repairs and supplies parts for all major brands of hoists including Coffing, Yale, Chester, CM, Budget, Harrington, Lug-All, Griphoist, Cooper Tools, Gardner-Denver, and many others. We repair all types of slings including wire rope slings, web slings, roundslings, alloy chain slings, and metal mesh slings. We also repair all types of plate lifting clamps including J.C. Renfroe, Crosby IP, and Campbell. A detailed repair estimate will be prepared for each piece of equipment and provided to the customer to review.
Often tags are illegible or damaged and need replacement. BLP Services uses an array of tags for retagging equipment as needed. The different types of tag materials we use are stainless steel, mylar, vinyl, and plastic. Some of the different styles of tags we install are data plates, warning tags, annual inspections tags, hand signal charts, color coded tags, and job specific tags for recertification.
Proof Testing is the final verification step in repair and is a standard policy with Steel Slings, Hoists, and lifting devices. We use proof test machines, static weights, water weights, load cells, and rigging to perform this process.
Qualifications & Certifications
BLP Service Crane Technicians are factory trained and must spend a specified amount of time in an apprenticeship under a crane technician before being allowed to work on equipment. They work with current factory repair manuals and use mandatory repair and maintenance check-off forms when evaluating and repairing equipment. We are also trained on the latest models when they are introduced. BLP Services is an ISO 9001:2000 certified company audited by DNV.
